Location: The Pines (Cabin Side) Time: 10 P.M. Written By: Alex McCann Tonight we had 5 members show up for the second night in a row! We used this fortune to check out one of our best local areas, that being the cabin side of the pines. The first thing we noticed about the area was how unusually bright it was. Between the nearly fully moon and the snow covering the ground, the area was completley lit up. This was far beyond what we usually dealt with at this location. We were very happy to find out we'd have a very rare advantage by being able to see very far at night. We had two groups and to start we had two in the cabin and sent three back into the pines. They went straight back and then cut left. They made calls for about 45 minutes off and on before returning. No definitive results occured during this time. Then we switched groups and the two in the cabin went out into the pines and cut right. The group in the pines made calls and nothing happened. Then they tried a decrescendoed whoop and the forest came alive. More than 5 owls started going crazy. The unexplainable part came when they wouldn't shut up, the inner group was able to hear another sound, a high pitched chatter, that seemed to be egging the owls on and getting them fired up. At this exact same time, the new cabin group reported a moan coming from the same area that the pines group heard their sounds. Overall we had a lot of vocalizations and it was really good to finally get something answering us. The animals are starting to become more active. Members: Alex, Stan, Evan, Cody, T-Mac
